Feds seek public input on hacker sentencing
    http://online.securityfocus.com/news/2028
Sick and tired of a revolving door justice system that lets hackers skate with just a few measly years in prison? Or do you think that the courts are already too hard on online miscreants who sometimes go up the creek for longer than many killers?

Either way, the U.S. government wants to hear from you.

Note: The public comment period ends on February 18th.

Great... The same apathetic, uninformed, couch-wallowing morons who vote on the basis of what TV tells them are now gonna have a say in setting criminal penalties.

Which raises another matter of concern: is anyone else bothered by how the government seems to be increasingly using the Internet as a method of measuring pouplarity? I realise that this could be a good thing if done properly, but it seems to be more and more of a method of judging public reaction to potentially reputation-damaging situations before they happen.

We should have a reality based tv show on a hax0r's life.....we could position two cameras in the house....one next to the kitchen and one next to the computer.....Then the public will know the truth....
      Where's the dedication?

I see what you mean...but at least it is an opportunity for us to get some input, granted it will probably not be taken seriously, into sentencing.

Yes...I do find it disturbing that ANYONE would even consider taking an internet poll seriously.
