      Shit. I live in Salt Lake City. Vegas is a six hour drive from here, and I'll be flying this year.

      Crazy Alaskans, don't you realize you'd have to drive through Canada! Canada Damnit!!

        There are about 630,000 people in Alaska....a lot of those people are fisher"people", I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you are lucky that you have even two, in my opinion I'd fly also.:D
        Where's the dedication?

                Nothing wrong with driving through Canada. While all the girls in America are fat and nasty Canada is full of complete babes and it would be cheaper to drive. It would just take a long time. And anyways I only speak for me and my friends the rest of Alaska is crazy.

                  your going to be tired when you get to the con from that long ass drive, your not going to sleep during the con (shame on you if you do), you'll probably be hungover, and then your going to make that long ass drive back to alaska...? sounds like a safety issue to me :p

                    Why not just catch a flight from Vancouver or Seattle? Better than driving all that distance.

                      snow dogs

                      take a dogsled to the nearest airport. I am sure the drive down would be long, but possibility fun if you planned it right. Meet folks all the way in. But the drive back.. brutal.

                        actually, as much crap as y'all are giving them for wanting to drive down i'll kindly point to the death race for defcon eight. we had a pack of people who drove down from alaska just to join up with the bay area caravan [then being run by jonm].

                        i'm an absoloute bastard who loves road trips to death, i say go for it. but if you do, heed the advice of the people who have gone before you.

                            AK -> NV

                            If you folks really are planning to do Alaska to Nevada, I'd like to hear how you plan to handle everything as far as Vancouver, BC. I'm in the way-early stages of planning the same trip, only in reverse, and online mapping services become useless once you start crossing the US/Canada border.

                              Basically I was going for the sites and to save money. Now I got a relative who is gonna pay for lots of plane tickets and hotel rooms so I dont have to worry about driving any more. And the liquor in Canada is stronger is you can just get it across the border.
