I have thought about getting a defcon tat since before I got the tat I have now. I don't think it is silly or lame, if someone thinks it is then they shouldn't be getting one, or even considering it.

Also i wouldn't get something that would be so pronounced as to say D E F C O N in big letters across my forehead... it would be a meaningful symbol that perhaps only a few will recognize as the body ages. It will be skin art, not just a tag.

For those on the maybe list: Tats are permanent and eventually melt into an unrecognizable blotch over several years... so think hard about getting one... also remember that you only have one life and it is a short one, live it while you can... and live it for yourself!

Getting a Defcon tattoo would put you right up there with an aging generation of folks with 'Metallica' crudely written on their shoulders.
very true, that's one of the reasons i haven't gotten a tatoo yet, i want to make sure its something im going to like 20 or 30 years down the line...but the con is 7 months away, ill have time to think of a design if i do decide to get one there

      any suggestions?
You're either on my side or else you're in the way.

you could get one anytime and anywhere... but if it isn't at defcon that would be like buying a defcon tshirt online... :/ the whole purpose would enhance the experience. :)

Now I wasnt just thinking of a tat with just the word defcon, that I think would be kinda lame. Im thinking more of an image the ebodies the spirit of the scene.

            I like tattoos...

But what better way to show your individuality than by doing the exact same fucking thing as everyone else? Yeah, it might make mom & dad piss their pants for a week or two, but it ain't as alternative as y'all might think.

Some lyrics that might fit: Carter USM's Let's Get Tattoos.

Note to Blackwave: not a sleight against you, just me making a point.

I find it more of a bonding... one rarely forgets the timespace when the tattoo occured... and without memories it is a cold world. I would look at the tat in my old age and say damn I remember that day like it was yesterday. also every tattoo has a story (unless of course you just get one to have one)... and when someone asks and points to one of your tats you can say... sit down, let me tell you all about this one...

Yeah, but even now I look at some of my CD collection and say, 'shit, I listened to *that* when I was 15?' Not that I'm embarrassed by it... But I know that 40 years from now my Sigue Sigue Sputnik collection is gonna seem pretty stupid. Not that it doesn't already.

ah yes the remorse and regrets involved in getting tats... my best advice is this: Do not have regrets.

Everyday is a building block for everyone, some like to show it, others do not.

I only regret two things in life. My CD collection is not one of them. And while I certainly make no apologies for my past taste in music (which is largely carried over to this day), I would at least be negligent if I weren't asking myself 'what the hell were you thinking?' Nostalgia is fine, but without self-inspection, there's no progression.

When I put "Defcon Tattoo" on the Scavenger Hunt list last year, I never expectedto actuall see one. Three people got defcon tattoos.

                      So... **Shrug**

                        Gotta break down the possibilities:

                        Tattoo on body: 5 pts
                        Tattoo on butt: 15 pts
                        Tattoo on face: 150 pts

                        and so on.... :D

hmm... so a tat on the butt would be 20 points? the butt is often part of the body :) so is the face, somtimes the face and the butt are one in the same... so how does that all work in the point scale? hrm.
