wow it is interested to see how many people actually run fake-ap... for some reason (including in this forum) even the script kiddies have problems running Fake-AP... not to mention the general public. I have yet to run into a fake-ap nest here in orange county. I really want to see if my little alpha fake-ap detector works in the wild... :(Originally posted by caffeine20

I would like more info on this too. In my experience Fake-AP is pretty much a non factor. It only generates the "fake" ap's at time interval. This would be an issue if you sat still for an extended period of time but not if you are driving by. Worst case scenario you would get a couple of APs that aren't legit. I would love to see a log if you have one though. The Black Alchemy guys may have improved thinks since I last played with it.Originally posted by caffeine20

for the most part chris Fake AP isnt as bad when driving, but it still causes problems. ill dig up some of my stumbler logs from around the SLC area, this week.
ive only found a few people flooding there wireless networks with fake AP but the one that does keeps me from surfing the net at my favorite breakfast location now.Comment

Why would it interfere? You must be associated with your pre-authorized AP's SSID... There should be no real conflict especially since fake-AP is not flooding sustained connections, only broadcasts (which your client would ignore once associated), and surely your pre-authorized AP connection is stronger than the fake-ap's signal...Originally posted by caffeine20
