May I recommend the FreeBSD Handbook? It's the book that got me off the ground when I couldn't really do much of anything with Unix or Linux. You can probably find it at Freebsd.org under Support where the handbook is actually online, or you can buy a copy from the FreeBSD Mall. I find slight differences between the two, but the handbook overall has been great.

      You might also check out
"Unix System Administration Handbook" by Evi Nemeth, Garth Snyder etal
The latest version 3 has a purple cover which is why I call it the Purple book.
This latest version has expanded Linux specific sections...you might also check out their book "Linux Administration Handbook". I haven't had the chance to look at that one yet but if it's as good as their other work it should be excellant too.
The Linux Administration Handbook is probably one of the better books out there for those of moderate Linux skills or beyond, I guarantee you'll learn something from it. The depth to which they explore things is amazing.

Unix Shells by Example by Ellie Quigley is a excellent book. Topics covered: C, Bourne, and Korn Unix shells; grep, sed, and awk utilities; regular expressions; and shell programming.

I know very little about Linux, Unix...what would be a good book...say on the order of "Windows for Dummies"...that could get me pointed in the right direction? Something that would give me basic commands, etc. I am not computer illiterate, I have just always worked in a Windows environment.
