We agree on the possibility of it happening, I just want to make damn sure it is not able to happen.
Sigh. I guess they'll make sure that the microwaves aren't on while the ship is running. Damn, there goes all those frozen burritos.

        Navy genius...

At one point, I was employed by a company that was working on an idiot-light-style IDS. Something like; "Green LED for 'all is well', yellow indicates an attack in progress, and red to indicate a network compromise". The system was to be driven by an Artificial Intelligence engine.

At one point, the Navy got the bright idea that if the A.I. was smart enough to identify an attack, it should also be able to implement countermeasures, as well as a counterattack. Countermeasures I might buy off on, but the counterattack capability creates a nasty potential for spoofing attacks to result in a fleet of ships, all busily engaged in damaging one another's communications, targeting, sensor, and all sorts of other systems.

The wisdom of implementing an automated network counterattack system seemed questionable, at the very least, to me... :)

Perhaps the Navy is setting out to become it's own worst enemy?

        :-P
