passive scanning will prevent any tipe of detection. just leave the reciever on and turn the transmitter off.

well there is the idea of the card when powered up gives a distinct rf signature, however minute... it is conceivable to create a system where triangulation and detection of these devices may be monitored as well as owner to device relationship... but if you think that will come true (especially in this economy then you may as well start sewing your foil body suit with titanium thread now... :) It isn't impossible, just improbable. :)

A 15 month late reply. Are you going to go through all the forums like that?

No, just all the ones that mention AirDefense. He works for AirDefense. According to his profile his location is Alpharetta GA. And what are the odds, guess where AirDefense is located:

              Corporate Headquarters - Atlanta
              4800 Northpoint Parkway
              Suite 100
              Alpharetta, GA 30022

My guess is he just did a search on AirDefense and is checking out what folks have said/are saying about his company.

I am basing this on this thread and the thread he is currently viewing (which also mentions AirDefense).
              perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'

Anyone with a monkey and a typewriter can detect netstumbler activity.. it is chatty by nature.

Converge IDS will detect wireless perchers too. If it detects anyone pointing a yagi in the direction of my house while parked alongside the street, the big tall automated script will jump out one of the house doors and beat said offender senseless with his 48" omni ;)
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.
