    Defcon XI

Iam kinda new to hacking and was thinking of heading to Defcon XI this year to learn more and kinda do this emmersion thing (my theory is u get better by being around the best). I was wondering if it would be too much for me and it would all be over my head or would i learn alot?

you are the only person that can set your limits, no one else can. Do not let others choose for you.

Iam very quiet when it comes to things like this especially when iam seeking knowledge. The most conversation i will have will be me asking questions to people, hopefully not making anyone mad with stupid questions.

Don't ask others if you should come just read what it's about and if you like it go for it. if I like somthing I try to do it or get it. If you don't go for somthing your never going to get anywhere.

Uh, how about the talks? It's not just about consuming enough alcohol to make an ass out of yourself. When I was researching DC I read alot of reviews of past cons. That will tell you alot, though it may also scare you off, heh. Since the ppl who are 90+% into learning and not into the partying at all tend to not write it up.

There will be a lot that is over your head and a lot under your feet, just find the place you belong, there are people there at all levels, you will settle at your level and know a lot of people with your same experiences. Defcon is one of the only places where I can talk computers to more than three people in person and not get the deer in the headlights look from them.

                            1. probably because you are using that lame nick.

                            2. take some of 0versight's advice.

                            3. read *a lot* before posting... ask intelligent questions.

there are peole whom think a lot of 'hackers' are elitists (why shouldn't they be?); when it is possible they are really not unfriendly, they are most likely just tired of hearing the same question being asked again and again... even if *they* did at one time....

NOTE: This statement doesn't apply to me. I am unfriendly. In fact, I am just mean.
