    Anyone using Trepia?

PALO ALTO, Calif, Jan 9th, 2003 -- Trepia™, Inc. announced today the release of an application which lets Wi-Fi users meet other nearby Wi-Fi users.

Using patent-pending technology Trepia™ analyzes Wi-Fi base station access patterns in order to determine which users are close to each other.

By creating an instant community, Trepia™ gives users an entirely new way of meeting others, whether they are at a convention, an airport, or at the book store.

The application requires Windows2000/XP and a Wi-Fi card to run and can be downloaded for free at http://www.trepia.com/.

hmmm... sounds pretty scary, I have met some of the WiFi users out there..

... not to sure how legal this software is... since it seems to throw everyone using it off wack from their modes... seems to be quite exploitable... I need to try this out on a test machine... I wonder what happens to the mode you are currently in and the wep keys... does everyone get them?.. the picture shows to jump everyone off the AP and have them chatting ad-hoc... what happens to their "secure wep" connections?...

      hey look at this:
Trepia™ is free to use and contains no spyware or ads.
      That's always nice to know...

... has anyone tried this ?

they don't seem to have support page...

Yeah, the web site is remarkably uninformative.

I brought it up on the wardriving mailing list:

a few people are playing with it, and plan to give out some results sometimes soon. :)
