Was looking for a project to relearn programming after a 15 year hiatus. I had thought at first a game might be fun. And if I were to do a game it would have to be Times of Lore from the glorious Commodore 64. But after owning an iPhone for a number of years and not being able to do what I wanted on it, I got an Android phone. I found I could put an IDE on it. A C++ compiler on it. And, even better, Frodo C64 with Barbarian and Times of Lore! Then I found that Wireshark as yet has not been ported to Android. So I'm going to try my hand at that and attend DefCon 22 and hopefully have a working Wireshark app. I realize it may be too ambitious, but I find such goals more stimulating.

The books I'll read to get started:

Internetworking with TCP IP by Douglas E. Comer
An Introduction to Programming with C++ by Diane Zak
Object-Oriented Programming in C++ by Robert Lafore
Practical Packet Analysis by Chris Sanders
Core Python Programming by Wesley Chun
Programming Android by O'Reilly Media
Android : A Programmer's Guide 1st Edition by Jerome DiMarzio

If anyone has any other ideas for books I'd appreciate it.
