Not a very technical question, but how safe is nntp? Posting? Downloading? In otherwords, how anonymous are you?

I LOVE NNTP!

If you value your privacy you want an encrypted connection through a proxy service (so your ISP won't see what you are downloading), and then connect to one of the hundreds of nntp services subscriptions out there (don't use your ISP's free nntp server)... that is pretty much the numero uno way of being anonymous... most ISPs tack on the originating IP in the headers... also depending on your cheesy ISP you may get a 3gb a week download limit.. blah.

Do you recommend any uncapped/unmonitored/free nntp servers? :) Also, recommend any security-related newsgroups? I remember the last time I ventured into the world of nntp I was hoarded with script kiddies looking for the latest netbus. Hopefully things have changed.
