  • Can you guess I am a mac user? :)

sup guys? I'm new. Im hardcore into computers, but I don't know so much about hacking (except basic inteface tweaks) and I was wondering if someone would be interested helping me I'm going to start war driving soon, maybe some tips? Tips on anything are good! I have a genuine desire to learn something here.

also what is defcon all about? like what do you do there?

    My oppinion on Macs

I personally like macs and use them often. Ive always liked macs and the fact that they come packaged with a one buton mouse should not be a determining factor in what computer is worth using. I use a 2 button/scroll/optical on mine and it works the same as on a PC. Personally I hate windows, people say macs are dumbed down, but if you use them and learn them they really aren't. I think that Windows XP is the most dumbed down OS ever. I like PCs for thier low cost, and standardized componants, but not for windows. Society has forced me to use it because it is the standard, but on my own time its all Mac OS X and mandrake. Mac OSX is a really great OS, don't let its apperance fool you, it has a BSD core called Darwin that is stable as anything, and it can run unix apps if the need be. Theres even a shell terminal is thats your thing. On my mac I also use virtual PC to run mandrake linux. But there are some things linux can't do, like use standard profesional software such as Photoshop, illustrator, flash etc. and mac runs those faster than windows. The other thing I get alot is that macs have lower Mhz/GHz. Well there are so many other determining factors to a computers speed, such as pipelines, that make that matter less. Also macs are built well, sure their like a car with the hood wielded shut when it comes to hardware, but that just makes it more of a challenge(fun) to tweak/mod/hack them. And apple's airport technology is great for wardriving with an iBook, or Powerbook G4. if you have a mac check out www.macstumbler.com for more on wardriving with macs. In closing, don't judge a book by its cover, maybe try a mac at the apple store, its realy a great system. and don't let the iPrograms throw you off, that switcher crap is only skin deep, and we don't even have the fruity colors anymore!

oh great another thread destined to say things like " See here:"

      http://..........

      http://..........

      and here:

http://www.we should close this thread/as soon as possible, we all know that's where it's going.

although we would like to tell this kid to search before posting and look around because the answers are posted already, we tell this to every idiot that posts a message like this, and it doesn't stop the next guy from doing the same thing.

now, in need to go find some cigarettes.

They don't call 'em crapintosh for nothing
              perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'

WWNB? - What Would Newbies Do?

                      Greetings theMacPhreak,

Often when entering a new-to-me realm, I often read as much as I can to inform myself of the user persona, and the overall attitude of the board before posting anything about anything. Usually it takes me about a week or two to get a good grasp of the ongoings and whatnot of the board.

Just as a suggestion you may want to do the same before being stoned to death :)

Now don't get me wrong, we LOVE mac users, and we have quite a few of them on this board... so it isn't a mac thing at all.

Here is one grand tip: Normally when someone is new to the board there really is no need to say Hi i am new, because the veterans of the board can figure that out for themselves... and when someone says "Hi I am new, I don't know why I am on this board, can you give me a run down of everything in a post or two?" ... well that just kind of makes people a little agitated... imagine seeing that two or three times a week... yeah.. see... so it really isn't you persay... but it is this particular type of "newbie" that puts a strain on the board....

Summary: My suggestion is that you check out the board, just read for about a week... then after you get to know us... you can feel free to integrate yourself... trust me it feels like a breath of fresh air once it is all over with....

oh in the end you will have an urge to thank me... don't worry about it.. it isn't about me, it is about you :) We are here just to help you.
