Why don't we just order all disposable, "eco friendly" swag this year? Badges that are made out of paper and unlaminated so thet fall apart when you get in the pool, all Tshrts made from coarsely woven hemp & dyed with vegetable dye so the color runs when you sweat plus you itch, and tissue paper slingpacks that are GUARANTEED to fall apart?
They say memories are priceless and everything else is just "material" anyway.
Some of the junk they try to sell there should fall apart BY LAW. But for most of the swag, the stuff that is thought out, it deserves to last forever.
With that in mind, was there ever a T-shirt for Defcon One? If there is an extra anywhere, it should be donated to the Smithsonian.
Are you referring to the DC vendor booth or the other vendors? If you consider any of the "official" DC stuff as junk, please do tell! Let's not let DT waste his money or waste the DEF CON logo on stuff that is obviously crap (and no, poorly designed Tshirts fo not count).
Really, the only way it's going to get better and you get to see stuff you want is if you step up to the plate. Let's open that can of worms!
The offivcial DC stuff rocks except for the common complaint that the shirts are not long enough. Get XL-T and 2XL-T. I am not alone in willingness to pay for the the longer shirts.
Also since DC8 the designs are appearing to look simpler. Maybe they are hard to make, I don't know.
I'd kill for a black polo shirt with a DC logo crest on it.
How much harder it is to get a t-shirt with a pocket?
And back to the photography...I can shoot faces in one shot and bobs in another, then maybe during the intermission at Hacker Jeopardy we can put them on display and see if folks can match the face to the chest. For those who get it right we can have other harder to identify body parts.... ;)
Ok....back to the subject at hand. As for dildos, condoms, and T&A photos...well....We're not the DOC. That stuff is better left to them anyway. Lightsabers, tazers, shotguns, ect, ect. Please let's not be silly. Some of the other stuff like pocket Pc/Pda holders and misc. tech stuff can be expensive, but still possiable.Would you guys be willing to pay a little extra for tools and such? They would probably be done in small quanities as "limited edition". If they're really popular the following year we could do a second run. If not they would be collecter's items. How does this sound? Any opions?
Personally, I'm a big fan of what is already available. I LOVED the shot glasses and pints, especially the really pretty cobalt blue ones. High quality drinking gear always scores high in my book. My personal spending limit is usually around $20 per item, unless it's REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY special, so I wouldn't go for any of the high end tech items mentioned... but who knows, there might be a market for that sort of thing. It might be tough, though, considering how hard it is already just for people to get the funds to come, let alone to scrounge up spending money.
i have too much crap that is useless, chances are if it is non-functional it is not in my possesion... bobble-heads, and stuffed pillows are not the way to go... quality over quanity anytime. perhaps putting out a list and having people vote on multiple items would help guage what people like.
