  • FBI File

I was bored tonight so I started googling random things and came across this: http://www.fbifile.com/

I know there are many places that talk about getting your FBI file, but I was curious as to if anyone on here has done it?

There is an old saying that the fastest way to an FBI record is to have your record requested. I don't know if that's true, but I don't want to find out.

What did I do to make you think I give a shit?

About 80% of what is in the file is information that you put there in the first place. Join the Army, join the police force, or get arrested, all will get you a file and number. Having a file is not necessarily bad, and NOT having a file is not necessarily good. Sort of like credit, it is what is IN the file that matters.

Unlike credit files, you cannot simply ask for something to be purged. It's very detailed. Gets busted in California and yes you can have most items stricken from the record, but plan to pay the court lots of fees in the process.

There are worse security lists to get on.
Somewhere in a sealed vault in Germany, there is a STASI file with my name on it.

Yeah I have talked to one person who worked with me at one time, his family had changed its name just to put themselves off such a list.

I tried by sending in a letter nothing came back. I do not think it ever even reached them.

The basic function of intelligence is keeping track of names, changing it doesn't really help.

Did you write FBI in the address and that's it. They probably started laughing their asses off, I mean did you move from Iraq or anything? If not why would they make a file about you.
Killing threads one post at a time...

The STASI had very few intelligence operatives outside of East Germany. If you were careful, you could lose them once outside of the DDR, but usually another country's intelligence agency would have to be involved.

It says on the site it can take four years to get your file. Be patient.

After all, it may take them that long to build the file you are requesting.

There is a grain of truth to that. It is part of the job to report contacts, etc.

FBI files are boring. Type your real name into Google. A friend of mine is supposed to be a porn star. ;)
