Newbie...

Hey guys,

Im a newbie to the DefCon world, but im also just getting into hacking....Installed Kali on my VirtualBox and just wanted to get an idea of where to start with all this...How did you guys start out? Any suggestions of what things I should do first? My colleague led me to this forum and i'm pretty sure I came to the right place..

Activity in the forums has been slowly dwindling over the years, as people move towards social networking sites like facebook. We have several threads on how people previously got started in the security field, though now some of the specific suggestions are a little dated, the general ideas and suggestions are still good.
