Hey hey,
So all of the lanes are now booked and I'm going to close pre-reg pretty soon. One does not immediately follow the other... i just generally tend to close online pre-reg when it gets time for me to pack up my gear before Black Hat, etc. In a couple days I'll be flying back to Montana, then to Colorado, then it's right into Black Hat and the DEFCON Shoot. So after this weekend I really won't have a chance to do any more reconciling between email, PayPal, and my spreadsheet of attendees.
We always do take cash on-site (same $25 as with online pre-reg... or $12 for military and $20 for un-free subjects of anti-gun regions) if you have exact change. If you don't have exact change, we'll round up to the next nearest bill you have. ;-)
I'm considering an additional category of badge, but I'd like community input and I don't know how workable it would be. I'd like to consider a "press" badge which would have the following criteria...
1. members who are there to cover the event for any media can be badged as press (print, online, tv, blog, whatver)
2. press would have more access to the area and get more leeway in checking out hardware, be invited to ask questions of people, etc.
3. press badge folk would sign paperwork stating that the specifically understand the photo/video policy
4. press badge folk would also sign paperwork (the same form) saying that anything they publish, they'd let us know and give us a chance to comment if we feel something deserves clarification
... i don't know how enforceable that is, or if we even want this category, but i'm just kicking it around in my mind.
What do folk see as the community benefits (or problems) with a "press" badge?
What do folk think potential "press" folk would see as worthy with this badge or would they not even bother to use it? (since there are more rules to follow)
Would it be worthwhile to give Press badge people reduced price access? Would such a system be abused?
