GARDI, welcome to the site, I was in your shoes about a year ago (getting stoked about my first visit to DEFCON). Take the time between now and August to meet the folks that are on here and, after making certain that obvious answers aren't available via quick forum search or on Google, ask questions. Also, if you haven't already, now (before the DEFCON rates are sold out) is a great time to book your room.

Be sure to check out DEFCON101 if this is your first time. It's usually presented on Thursday but check to be sure. It's good stuff where you get to learn from our mistakes and start having fun faster.
