It is a thing that seems to happen at many conventions, not just DEF CON.

Dumb question, but does anyone know where within Caesars Palace it's being held at? The schedule only says "Main Room" ........is there a floor plan posted somewhere and I am just completely daft?

There is a floor plan for the DEF CON controlled convention space:

However, I do not see a "Main Room" on that DEF CON controlled space floor plan. It is possible that Tiaracon has their own space outside of the DEF CON floor plan, but still inside Caesar's Palace.

Reading their "gofundme" page (URL3 = https://www.gofundme.com/tiaracon2017 ) seems to confirm this:

On July 27 and 28th at the Caesars Suites Las Vegas TiaraCon will be hosting a two day conference celebrating women in security and diversity in technology employment.
...
This year we'll be in a much bigger and better suite, close to DefCon.

A "suite" is mentioned explicitly, and "Caesars Suites" is capitalized, suggesting a proper noun. So, maybe not part of the DEF CON controlled space, but maybe in a hotel suite or near the conference space in a different kinds of suite, and their own policies on costs to enter and pay and rules of conduct.

You might try asking on twitter https://twitter.com/tiarac0n as that is more likely to get a reply from someone faster than the forums. (It's the Push vs. Poll issue. If you (any reader) do not know this issue, keep reading this parenthetical comment: Someone on twitter will likely be notified of your tweet to/at them while a forum space they would have to visit periodically probably would not be visited. Forum users can subscribe to threads/forums to get email notifications of updates, and can be auto-subscribed to threads they post, to get pushed notices of updates, but few people choose this configuration on the forums, meaning you have to wait for them to "poll" the forums for unanswered questions.)

If you do find an authoritative answer which you can link to as a citation, please return and post a followup of what you found, so others can benefit from your work.
