I have been checking in every couple days to see if there are any updates. The con is about 2 months away now but I still don't see any info about specifics (speakers / events etc). For those of you who have been before when do they typically announce the details? I want to plan to make the most of the experience while I'm out there.

First time planning for DC25 - When does more information become available to plan?

This will be #3 for me and I've been checking back every day or so as well. I suspect that we'll see the floorplan in the next few days or weeks and then the schedule will start filling in pretty quickly after that. My gut is that they are working hard to take advantage of the new venue and avoid some of the bottleneck type issues from the last 2..: This post contains 100% recycled electrons :.

The process for speaker updates is often done in stages:
1) CFP opens, people submit
2) CFP review board reviews papers, sends feedback, comments, and confirmation "we received your paper".
3) CFP closes, and CFP review board is still reviewing
4) CFP replies go out to people that submitted, with approval and invitation , requesting/requiring confirmation speaker will be at con
5) Would-be speakers reply by deadline, or do not
6) With explicit decline, spots are opened for alternate speaker (good talks, but not as good as other talks, or duplicate topics to other talks) and when a slot is opened, another talk on the same topic, or alternate talk is selected, and a message is sent to that would-be speaker.
7) As more and more would--be speakers confirm presence at DEF CON, the schedule for speakers is built to try to best make efficient use of the speaker tracks and space available.
8) Some speakers that previously confirmed showing up, send notice they won't be speaking for whatever reasons, and other alternates are given opportunities to speak, and the schedule is altered.
I am not on the CFP review board for DEF CON. The above is from observations of many years of public comments about the review process and how it works.
Nikita posted a notice on twitter that the last of the confirmation emails for submitted CFP were sent out. (Confirmation of receipt, etc.)
People on the CFP review board have been posting complaints about papers (without naming names) and provided advice on what to do and what not to do when submitting a paper over the last few weeks, suggesting they are and have been reviewing papers.
Best estimate: we are probably around steps 3 , 4 and 5 right now.

CFP Closed on May 1st, notifications of Accepted or Rejected talks ( or we're trying to fit you in letters) don't go out until June 1st. ( because we got over 200 submissions the last 2 days)
Once we accept those talks ( hopefully we've met our deadline) we will then try to schedule it, check for conflicts, compile all the text, get it up on the speaker page, make announcements, etc. The deadline for the speakers to get us their Abstracts & Bios for the printed program and the website is June 15th. So hopefully, sometime between June 1st & June 15th we will start to see a steady trickle of speaker data posted. The posting of the schedule for when they are speaking, varies based on how difficult it is to get the cats in the basket and to get all the multiple points of data up on the site. ( There's only two of us) but usually it ill go up around the same time.
So, as it happens... I wrote this below piece for an inquiring soul a few weeks back for someone who wanted to know how to get all the info into ONE Schedule in order to plan, that's not possible for me. My advice is to make sure you're following the infobooth's site and i HIGHLY recommend the hacker tracker app. In the meantime, here's a list of places to search to see what's going on and when it's likely to be released. Please understand it was directed at a person, and I don't want to edit the whole thing. Maybe I'll make a blog post for this sometime but i'm busy AF to be honest. You could piece together what's happening and when it should be released.
Q: Can I get one schedule listing everything?
A:
"We don’t make a schedule like that. We never have, and due to the quantity of how many activities we have at DEF CON we likely never will. We create a program that lists contest, content, villages, and events, but never one exact schedule combined. There are TOO MANY events to do it. See last years program as an example: https://media.defcon.org/DEF%20CON%2...24-Program.pdf
Some individual volunteers have made one for the community, found on the DC forums, or through the “Hacker Tracker" App in app stores. Our official DC Info Booth compiles a schedule of complete events, but it is done at the END of planning when all events have been approved, sent in their data, and we are ready to begin the show. Info Booth puts out a schedule right before the event itself, not months ahead because it’s simply not feasible otherwise.
As disappointing as this may sound, I’m sorry but I don’t have time make a schedule for you. You are more than welcome to check out the information yourself and make one….the below information should get you started. This is the best I can do for you, as we have not completed the selection process for our talks, workshops, demo labs, evening lounges, parties, suites, music events, vendors, etc. Our contests and Villages were just accepted officially 3 days ago, I’ve posted what I can on that below.
DEF CON 25 is July 27-30, 2017 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas!
$260 USD for all four days! Cash only at the door, there is no pre-registration.
Thursday 27th:
DEF CON 101 Speaking Tracks 1 & 2 10:00 to 18:00
A few contests may be starting early selection.
Workshops will be running for pre-registered attendees.
Friday 28th, Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th:
Main Tracks - 4 speaking Tracks from 10:00 to 18:00
Evening Contest Friday & Saturday from 20:00 to 24:00
Workshops, Demo Labs, Villages, Lounges, etc….
NOTE:
Speaking Track details will not be posted until June, after the content selection is completed. Call for papers ends May 1st, people will be notified June 1st, and we will try to get a schedule of approved talks out sometime during the first half of June.
Evening Lounges
These are smaller more intimate talks that don't require audio and video support for a limited audience. For example, a few years ago there was a "Policy Wonks" lounge where experts had a Q&A discussion with the 30 to 40 people in the room. It was more intimate and only those who cared about Washington DC policy issues were there. They will be two hours in length and figure 100+ people maximum. They will start in the evenings after other talks have ended.
Schedule not yet posted, as selection has not be finalized. Will be posted in June.
https://forum.defcon.org/forum/defco...-official-and-unofficial-events/evening-lounges
Demo Labs
The DEF CON Demo Lab is a dedicated area for hackers to show off what they have been working on, to answer questions, and even coax attendees into giving feedback on their projects.
Will be held Saturday 10:00 to 18:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 14:00
Detailed Schedule posted in June.
Workshops
Workshops are back! Workshops are not recorded, and will be free to attendees on a first come, first served basis (exceptions may be made for low-fee material cost).
Detailed Schedule posted in June. Workshops will be ran Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

Villages are open Friday to Sunday. Some have speaking tracks with talks as well as hands on content, workshops, and contests.
Hours vary, but usually are open 10:00 to 20:00 Friday & Sat, and 10:00 to 14:00 or 16:00 Sunday.

Contests:
There is a large list of contests, Some of which you can see here:
( won't let me upload image to forums so here's the link)
https://twitter.com/Grifter801/statu...85293239885825
Times have not been posted for every event yet. As they were JUST approved for acceptance on April 25th, three days ago. You may be able to infer times, and such from LAST year’s material, as they tend to stick to the same hours for repeat events. There will likely not be a “schedule” listing all contest times.
There will be more events, parties and suites not yet listed. They're still being worked on.
You can view our forums for more info on other contests and events.
