Are you fulfilling the promise of tomorrow's technology today? Are you etching circuit-boards in your lab, or soldering in a toaster oven in your garage? Are you hosting a MUD on your helmet, or making malicious USB hardware? Did you make something to help you in your every day life, a unique wearable, or something really nefarious?

We want to see the awesome things you've been building over the last year.

The HomebrewHardware competition is a place to showcase your skill, techniques, and project.

Rules:

1. Bring your hardware, and proof of how you made it (video, pictures, etc.)
2. Each entry will be given 5 minutes to discuss what they built, how they built it, and show a practical demonstration.
3. A panel of judges will rank entries based on a number of categories including: innovativeness, construction techniques, utility, and aesthetics.
4. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
5. Entries can submit early (watch our twitter) but must be present to talk through their hardware on stage.
6. Entries can be teams or individuals.
7. Entries can leverage commercial parts and gear, but should strive to meet the spirit of home-brew!
8. No badges, please. We <3 badge life, but there are already some awesome contests for them.

We've made a few modifications, so wanted to update everyone. The biggest one: We've joined forces with the Hard Hat Brigade!

Here's the latest (minor) rules revision for the Homebrew Hardware Contest:

6. Entries should be submitted via email, but must be present to win. We'll accept entries until ~ NOON on Saturday Aug. 10th.
7. Entries can be teams or individuals.
8. Entries can leverage commercial parts and gear, but should strive to meet the spirit of homebrew!
9. No badges, please. We <3 badgelife, but there are already some awesome contests for them.[/SIZE]

We've added mulitple categories! Be sure to enter the right category for your project.

• Hardcore - Awesome hardware you made to break/creack/hack/pwn something
• Just for Fun (Wearables/Aesthetic etc) - Things that governments won't be mad at you for makin

If you are entering the Hard Hat Brigade Contest:

1. You must use a hard hat.*
   • Type 1 Hard Hats: have a full brim around the entire hat.
   • Type 2 Hard Hats: have a short brim only in the front.
   • * Other hat types are allowed but will not be eligible for the GRAND PRIZE *
   • * Other hat types are cowboy hardhats, fireman helmets, etc *
   • * Pith helmets are INCLUDED in the contest for the GRAND PRIZE *
2. There are a few categories of competition:`
   • #BLING - hat with the best electronic bling
   • #WAREZ - hat with the best hacker functionality
   • #NOLIMITS - the best overall hardhat and GRAND PRIZE winner
3. Categories can be added / changed / deleted at discretion of organizers
4. Modifications cannot remove more than 40% of the base material.
5. Hard hat cannot be a hazard to life, limb, or property.
6. Contestants shall not interfere with other’s hard hat entries, physically, logically, or electronically. Just not at all mmmkay?
7. Have fun and learn new skills!

Competition

1. Contestants will have 2 minutes to describe their entry to the judges, and include any demonstration of capabilities. 2 minutes, Turkish, 2 minutes!
2. There is no time limit for questions and answers by judges after initial presentation.
