Like the forum for it, or the organizers?

Actually Both. I've never been to Def Con. We have a local group here in Green Bay Wisconisn called 920Sec and one of our members has presented at Def Con so I get some
feed back locally and we've held a LockPic Session 3Hrs Here. Loved it. I am trying to justify the expense of going to Def Con as I know I'll get carried away and Buy Stock in Hak 5 or
something stupid like that but I really would like to help as well as long as I'm there.

As organizers for villages get their details up for DEF CON 28 in Las Vegas, forum resources will be added to promote and support them.

The "TOOOL" organization has been involved with many *past* Lockpick Village events at past DEF CON. They have provided volunteers, and accepted non-TOOOL members as volunteers to help out. If they will be running the DEF CON 28 Lockpick Village, you can check out:
        https://toool.us/
        https://twitter.com/toool

Once forum resources are allocated for Lockpicking events, various links we have available for each event should be included in the forums.

There have been other contests at DEF CON which include picking locks are in part or whole which have not been run by TOOOL. In the past, there were contests like defusing a "bomb" which included addressing many security issues, including lock picking as a component, and a contest to "Escape a Jail" which may have included picking locks, and an actual timed lock picking contest, and other contests like Car Hacking Village CTF, and the "DC DarkNet Project" which has often included learning opportunities for many different disciplines, most of which are online, but which could also possibly include picking locks, and Warlock Games (Warl0ck Gam3z CTF) which may include a component with picking locks. There have probably been more.

        Disclaimer:
I do not work as a department head for the department that deals with requests and approvals for various contests, villages and other events. I try to avoid speaking authoritatively on behalf of any department other than my own, and then only on the parts in the department for which I am responsible. All of the information provided here should be considered "best guesses" from an informed attendee. If there is any official announcement from the departments which handle contests, events and villages, or from DT ( Dark Tangent ) and those announcements contradict my hints/assumptions posted here, go with the official announcements instead of my "best guesses."

Thank's Number6. I'll check out the toool.us guys! I really appreciate the feedback. I'm trying to talk my daughter in to letting me bring the GrandSons 14 and 15 yrs old with me. I know
          They would have a ball!

Also consider a separate "kids only" event which was previous called "DEF CON Kids" but renamed to "r00tz" (zeros "0" instead of oh "o" ) or "Rootz" or "R00tz Asylum" or "Rootz Asylum" : this is a thing at DEF CON which includes a wide variety of topics with speakers talking about many items in security and hacking. They have had hands-on events, which have included lock picking and more. The history of this is kids are only allowed if accompanied by parent or guardian, and parent must stay with the kid. Adults (other than organizers, speakers, presenters, etc.) which have no kids with them are not allowed in this space. The same DEF CON badge for DEF CON has historically granted access to this space, and people attending this space can also visit the rest of the DEF CON speaker tracks, contests, events and villages. All people attending (Even if not there to learn) have historically been required to have a badge.

If you and your grandchildren already have access to DEF CON, then historically, they could have access to "R00tz".

If that does interest you, keep checking back on details, in case they require a sign-up process, so you can reserve a space for yourself and your grandchildren.

My information on this may be old and may not apply to this year, but consider investigating "R00tz" and see if it is something they would like:

From past events details, check out:
          https://r00tz.org/
          https://twitter.com/r00tzasylum

I have no information confirming they will or won't be at DEF CON 28, but they have been at the past several DEF CON. As usual, the information I have provided is about past DEF CON events, not about present DEF CON planning or acceptance. I am not authoritative for contests, events, parties, villages, etc. If someone from one of those departments or DT or this event provider provides information that contradicts mine, go with their information.
