We are going to try something we have never done, a free virtual con

We plan to organize everything here on the DEF CON Forums, and then on August 6th we will open the DEF CON discord.io/dc server up for everyone to join and start their con experience! DEF CON Safe Mode will then run August 7-9 2020.

The DEF CON 28 Safe Mode FAQ as well as my blog post announcing the cancellation of the in-person event should help answer some of your questions.

Let's use these forums to collaborate in making Safe Mode happen. We will be adding every event to the calendar as well to make it easier to understand when things are happening.

I've created sub-forums where we will list events, parties and contests as they get confirmed. It looks blank now but will be growing in the weeks to come as content is confirmed.

Note: If you used to use the forums years ago we have gone through some changes. We now support Unicode, emojis 😎, and there are mobile apps, photo albums (Accessible from the "media" tab in your profile), an articles section and a completely re-vamped DEF CON Groups section. We even have embedded video working with YouTube.

In the coming days we will start listing all the Villages, Contests and events we learn of that will be happening.

If you want to run your own virtual event please post in the correct sub-forum and away you go.

Please jump in, get involved, and help make the first virtual event a success!

We have finalized Villages, Demo Labs, and should have the final list of contests and Events this week.

Next week will post all the DJs and artists. As villages start posting their schedules we will try and stay up to date!

Now that the con is over and we are deep into the post-con wrap up I'll start editing the forums and changing some things around.

Also we will start to post links to content, and news articles we find.
