Change Username Request

Unfortunately no, we have a process to let everyone know you are moving from Old -> New.
number6 and he should start the process for you. -
It is too great a risk for abuse. Most users choose the username they want when they register.
We can manually change usernames if basic conditions are met.
We like to do these changes in public so users can see we are not imposing name changes on them and to provide a paper-trail of previous username used if problems are reported (such as in PM) with the previous username.

You are in good standing (not spamming, or causing problems)
You have no other posts, so low risk for confusion from a name change.
The name "cak" was free wen I checked: nobody else was using it.
We completed this process in public, showing you requested it, and for transparency.
Username changed from "aphire" to "cak"
You can probably just keep using your account as is, but it is probably safest to:
* Logout
* Clear cookies for forum.defcon.org
* Login with username "cak" but the same password you used with "aphire"
If you have troubles and cannot login, you can try the online password reset:
https://forum.defcon.org/lostpw
If after that, you still can't login, try contacting me:
defconforums@gmail.com
Please let us know how it works out. :-)Comment

Everything works as intended! Thank you so much! -
My username change request is related to stalking. If allowed, please remove the public visibility of the change. I realize you keep logs of changes for professional reasons, I just don't need the stalker having the connection. Thanks -
Codebender_Cate I've edited that post from me as it was my content. Admin and mods can see the old name and new name if they want to, but the public should not be able to see it.
However, search engines likely have the original content. It may take while for them to revisit this content and replace the results in their search indexes.
