BBC World Service Radio: looking for a Hack-a-Sat team to interview

    Hi!

I'm a freelance radio producer and have been commissioned to create a radio package on the Hack-a-Sat competition. I am looking for a hackathon team that would be willing to be interviewed before and throughout the competition. I basically want to create a piece that follows them closely throughout and checks in at multiple points throughout the three days. It would preferably be the team that is expected to win!

Any information on which team that would be and how to get in contact would be great. Thank you very much in advance!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a press goon. Nothing I write here is authoritative. If a Press Goon contradicts anything I write here, go with their advice over mine.

    Read: https://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-28/dc-28-press.html

    Suggested path:
    1) Signup with the DEF CON Discord Server and get an account: https://discord.gg/defcon
    2) After you have a discord account and are on the server, look at the content of the page where you are "dumped" on the server, which should tell you about the CoC and to complete a "ReCAPTCHA" process with a YAG bot. Quickly look for a DM (Direct Message) from the YAG bot with directions for visiting a URL to complete the Re-Captcha.
if you are using the "Discord application" on a desktop or laptop, OR you are visiting it within a desktop/laptop browsers, It may look something like this:
Example, Screenshot, pointing to YAG bot DM
(Make sure your Discord settings are not set to block DM (Direct Message) : if you are totally new to Discord, the default is NOT set to block DM, so you shouldn't need to change it.)
    3) Visiting that YAG bot re-captcha from DM should take you outside the discord servers to a site probably named something like yagpdb.xyz . Complete that process.
3b) Ignore the "you must register your phone" notice at the bottom of the screen; that notice *should* go away once you complete the YAG bot ReCAPTCHA.
    4) Now you should have "Human" status. If you don't complete that YAG bot captcha, you will likely be kicked from the server in around 20 minutes.
    5) Consider upgrading to HumanPlus (cost is $20) details: https://plus.defcon.org/
    6) Review https://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-28/dc-28-press.html (which will hopefully be updated with how you should talk to the Press Bot.) If there are no clear directions at https://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-28/dc-28-press.html by 11pm pacific time (GMT-7) Aug 5, 2020, then send an email message to press@defcon.org to tell them the username you are using on the DEF CON Discord server, and see if they are available to set you up with the status of "Press" while on the DEF CON Discord server. It would be best to wait until you have been assigned a "Press" status on the DEF CON discord servers before you interview people. Not letting people know you are press could be problematic.
If you email now, I would not be surprised if you don't get a reply until August 6th.
    7) Once you are press, and DEF CON is open, you should be able to get access to some of the same spaces as either Human or HumanPlus, including contest areas.

You will have a much better chance of getting responses while you are on the DEF CON discord server during DEF CON than making a request here on the forums.

Check out: https://info.defcon.org/ All times should be in US/Los_Angeles Pacific Time (GMT-7)
It mentions these as links for https://discord.com/channels/7082082...44034183200808 (DEF CON Discord server channel for this contest) and https://forum.defcon.org/node/231203 the forum for their contest.
You will probably not be able to visit https://discord.com/channels/7082082...44034183200808 until DEF CON is open whether you have "Human" role or "HumaPlus" role. It is not open as of "now" but could open any time in the next 24 hours, maybe less, maybe more. Many villages won't open until Friday. Some spaces may open on Thursday.
