Cool Video Effects

Interlaced monitors are pretty retro and I do enjoy nostalgia as much as the next one, but this video effect makes it very difficult to interpret smaller fonts and graphs, for those of us with tired eyes. Can we get the raw presentations without the graphical cheese, or is this more about style than information?
