For people wondering about the status of the DC801 Black Mage Badge:
Development started in December 2019, and we were finally able to ship all of the ordered badges within a week of July 12th, 2021.
The sales page was open from August 8th 2020 until the end of January 2021, and all of the badges sold out.
The game that we ended up shipping for the 2021 release was a "Part 1" for a larger story in a larger world, which is in active development, and we plan to release that larger game with a second batch of hardware to be manufactured and shipped in 2022.
We knew that the hardware release of the game would be limited-run, but we wanted everyone to have the change to play the game we've put so much effort into developing, so we also made a fully functional Web version of the 2021 release that you can play on a Desktop browser! Keyboard input is currently required to play, so don't bother visiting this link on your phone or tablet.

Give the game a try, and if you beat the game and have feedback, or if you get stuck on any of the puzzles, come talk with us in the #badge-chats channel on the 801Labs Discord! We hope to see you there!

Our source code and board schematics are available on GitHub, so if you've the gumption to order your own PCBs and hunt down all of the components on the BOM, you're welcome to build your own instance of the 2021 badge if you can't wait until 2022.
