In advance celebration of Halloween, #defconmovienight this week brings you 'Bride of the Monster', directed by the delightfully peculiar Ed Wood. If you're not familiar with the work of Ed Wood, you're in for a treat. He's probably most famous for 'Plan 9 from Outer Space', a fixture on late 20th century 'worst movies of all time' lists.

Those critics lack imagination, or they don't see enough movies.

While Ed Wood's movies suffered from some amateur actors and budget constraints, but it's more than made up for in the sheer 'let's put on a show' energy Wood brought to all of his projects.

'Bride of the Monster' reportedly has Ed's highest budget ever ($70K, still not enough for catering on most modern films) and features scary movie OG Bela Lugosi, Tor Johnson and an attack octopus. 🐙
