Joshua Pereyda - Intro to Pwn
Latest details, requirements, description, cost: https://defcontrainings.myshopify.co...a-intro-to-pwn

    Training description:

"An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age."

With today's technology landscape, the tools of pwn are becoming a more obscure skillset among hackers. Many hackers are familiar with pen testing and web hacking basics, but have only a cursory understanding of binary exploitation.

This course will build up the basic skills necessary to "pwn" binaries everywhere. The class will have a strong emphasis on hands-on practice and challenges. Students will be expected to solve challenges on their own, with guidance from the instructor.

This course is for people who have some hacking and/or programming experience, but are new to the world of “pwn” (that is, binary exploitation). A solid grasp of these skills will prepare you for a world of advanced exploitaiton techniques.

    Why pwn?
    - Open your mind to a "hacker" mindset.
    - Participate in one of the longest running hacker skillsets still in active use.
    - Practice absolute ownage of your environment.

Takeaways for the students after completing the class:

    - Reverse Engineering
    - Shellcoding
    - Identifying and Exploiting Memory Errors
    - Debugging Exploits

    Student skill level:

Difficulty: Beginner to intermediate: While we will start with the basics, the pace will be quick and assume programming competence.

    Required Prerequisites:
    - Substantial programming experience

    Recommended Prerequisites:
    - Familiarity with x86 assembly
    - Familiarity with C language
    - Familiarity with the concept of buffer overflows

What should students bring to the Training?:

    - Laptop with at least 8 GB RAM
    - Linux OS strongly recommended (VM is OK), Ubuntu will be used in examples
