The Z80 Retro Badge

I/O on the Z80 Retro Badge is via the built in USB to serial chip. Just plugin in and it should show up as a com port. This is the main way of interacting with the badge.
There is also an expansion port. 40 pins that expose the address and memory buses, the necessary control lines, and even a couple of clock lines. This port opens up a lot of possibilities to expand the badge. You could theoretically create something like a video card and attach it. -
where the screen port like hooking up to a screen? keyboard? lolLeave a comment:

what is the I/O on this? I don't see anything that looks like video out, or a serial port, so how to you interact with it?
(BTW awesome looking, I already have one ordered and am looking forward to playing around with CPM)

Yes, we will have them for sale at this year's DEF CON! And, since we had extra time we've hidden secrets in it and there will be a CTF of sorts. The prize with be the retail cost of the badge, so essentially you get your badge for free if you win. We are real excited about it.
More details to come as we get closer to DEF CON.Leave a comment:

Good news everybody!
After a successful prototype run, our new power board design was proved out. Recently we sent it over to manufacturing and a first batch of power boards arrived last week and those were tested and they work! Then, yesterday, the final shipment of power boards arrived. We mislaid our 20 pins headers somehow, some we need some replacements before final assembly.
On the compute board, we have restarted assembly of the remaining unassembled boards. We discovered a low yield when testing some of the parts we sourced. Particularly, the ATF750 chip we use for our custom ZBridge probably has the lowest yield of any part, and it's not a cheap or easy to find part to find. We've found a source and hopefully yields will be better giving us more assembled boards. SIO/2s, which we are also short on, are also difficult to find at wholesale prices and are usually more expensive than the CPU. We've managed to source those now too, albeit at a much higher price than we would prefer. We expect to have all the parts needed for our target numbers by next month. Giving us plenty of time to finish then before DEF CON.
On the software front, since we've had extra time to work on it we've been able to add cool features and other surprises. We've nearly finalized the firmware and we have some cool stuff we're working on that runs under CP/M. Expect games and maybe a CTF-like experience.
We are still trying to finalize plans as to how we are going to sell and deliver the badges. We may offer an option to buy online for delivery. We will probably try and sell through Hacker Warehouse again. We just have not finalized any of those plans yet, but I will try and keep you informed as we start to put plans together.
Finally, let me present the first assembled and fully operational Z80 Retro Badge:

My sincerest apologies to everyone. In addition to a couple of manufacturing defects we had to rework which put us in a huge time crunch, we discovered a design flaw in our power supply that prevented almost all the badges from booting up correctly. Because these problems, we decide not to sell our badge yet. We absolutely do not want to sell an inferior product.
We plan to immediately work on a redesign the power supply and we will keep everybody posted here and all of the other channels we've advertised through of the progress and we will try and make online sales to those who want one. In addition we plan to sell the badge at next year's DEF CON and we may have another exciting new badge from our team too.
Again, we're very very sorry about this and hope to make it up to everybody in the very near future.

I asked about this at the Hackerboxes booth and they said it needs to be ordered online. I can't find it on the Hackerboxes site. :( Anyone know where to look? TIALeave a comment:
