Open WiFi rules / experiment question

I have a question regarding the open WiFi. I have a 19 year old laptop with a base windows 7 install, not even updated with no data on it. I was wondering if it would be allowed to connect it to the open WiFi and share its IP address, asking people to hack it? Like an impromptu ctf.

Ive always heard how the open WiFi or even the secure WiFi can be sketchy, so I’ve always done my due diligence. But I would be interested in seeing this as an experiment.
