    November 2022 Meetup!

    When:
We are kicking off our monthly meetups starting next month (11/12/22_Saturday_Time/Place TBD on feedback). If no feedback is received, we are thinking 1000-1400.

    Where:
I have authorization to use our office conference room to host meetings, however, I am open to other suggestions, or just doing it all 100% remote. We can also do a hybrid via in person and via our Discord group.

    What:
We are looking at these being hands on sessions involving OWASP Top 10/Juice Shop hacking. I have found several new folks (3-5) wanting to learn, so these first few months will be geared more towards those with little to no experience.

    Actual:
The event will begin with setting up, updating and configuring a Kali VM, installing Docker on it, and downloading and installing OWASP Juice Shop Docker. We can then walk through/perform some of the attacks on the Juice Shop.

    You will need:
    1. Computer with VirtualBox/VMWare/Hyper-V(?). I can also look into setting up some bare metal installs of Kali on junker laptops for those in person to use if needed.
    2. Willingness to learn and have fun!

Future events can revolve around working though more of the OWASP top ten attacks using the already setup VM. Looking at December's meetup to be earlier in the month (3rd?/10th?) as to not interfere with holiday plans

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. You can reach me here, in our Discord (sp00k), or at dc907@gmail.com.

Other ideas I have for later meetups: Wi-fi Pineapple demos, Throwing Star LAN Tap demos, hacking Vulnhub VM's, password cracking demos, creating sock puppets, threat intel sources, proper OpSec, your favorite tool(s), sharing the all the data that I brought home from DC30 DDV (yes, all three drives). (Open to any and all suggestions!!!)

About this Group

Location: Anchorage, Alaska USA

Point of Contact: Steve Sedotto

POC Email: defcon907@gmail.com

Website: pending

DC907 Meets: Ideally, we will be meeting at the Anchorage Makerspace, but are looking at getting some interest driven first. If this does not work out, there are plenty of coffee shops in the local area where everybody can take turns giving a talk on what their interests are.

Description: DC907 started in 2019. The Anchorage information security scene was missing a local meetup where interested professionals and hobbyists alike could meet. Currently, the starter is looking for additional leaders to help with structuring and organization.

Cool Things about Us: We live in the greatest state and have a great community of infosec personnel with no outlet or way to help spread knowledge.
