The DEFCON MUD is back, this time you can only access it over dumb terminals or serial terminals hosted by the DEFCON SCAV Hunt. Flags will be hosted inside the mud, good luck, have fun, and oh yes the game has exploits, can you find them all?

can use like laptop with serial port (usb attachment) and hook it up that way with a terminal software like procomm or qmodem or others for example?

That’s a negative ghost rider. The only way to play will
be with a dumb terminal.

I will host the game online for people to play with laptops for a few weeks before defcon, however the game will not be scored.

I will also host the game on the defcon wifi, but again the game will not be scored.

So long as they all survive the burn-in test and don't let out too much magic smoke, there should be several.
