    First Timer has Questions

I'll be going to DEFCON 31.
I'm treating it as my first time even though some friends took me last year for like 4 hours on the closing night.

So this will be my first time going for multiple days.

Any advice of what to see?
    Who to talk to?
...how best to prepare for the adventure?!

    Much appreciated,
    - A Casual St8ner

Once schedules contain DEF CON 31 content instead of DEF CON 30 content, review what is available and build a list of all of the things you want to do. Make sure there is no time during DEF CON where you don't have anything to do.
Be willing to abandon your schedule if a better opportunity appears.
Try a little bit of everything: play in a contest, attend a village, listen to a talk, visit a party, Visit one of the DemoLabs, visit the Vendor area to see if there is anything that interests you, strike up a conversation with a stranger, more.
If you are able to, join a group of people attending DEF CON, especially if they have been to DEF CON before, you increase a "local social network" of people to hear about things happening at DEF CON, for access to new opportunities which may not be in the schedules. Find what you like, and use that to change your plans at DEF CON.

Eventually (probably late July or early August) there should be a PDF program you can download which should look like the printed program available when you get a DEF CON badge. Content on https://info.defcon.org/ will eventually refer to DEF CON 31 instead of DEF CON 30. Also, an app for iPhone or Android "Hacker Tracker" should also get information for DEF CON 31 instead of DEF CON 30. There is also an Infobooth goon who includes content on outel server, and also manages content on the reddit thread about DEF CON:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Defcon/comm...ing_enjoyment/

Use your first visit to help you build plans for your next visit, but always include at least one thing new with each visit, as new things are always being added, and it is really impossible to try all of the things at DEF CON in any year, and know what you will or won't like.

I'm assuming that Hacker Tracker will be working for DC31 this year as well, correct?

I do not run HackTracker, but there is evidence to support the people that do run it will have content for DEF CON 31 this year.

I advise you to prepare your self for def con 31 as much as you can, and don't think so much just participate in it.
