Hey everyone. The Defcon shoot page suggests that you may be able to hire firearms from Pro Gun, but before I send of an enquiry to them, has anyone confirmed this? I guess I just don't want to bombard them with the same question that others have asked, so thought I'd post here first.

You mean rentals? I’m interested in this question as well as I don’t have any firearms and don’t know anyone else going to the event.Hey everyone. If you plan on coming to the defcon shoot without firearms you almost certainly will be able to shoot other people's firearms (assuming you're willing to wait and have cash to compensate them for ammo, etc). This is the "normal" way the defcon shoot works, some people have guns, purchase a lane, and offer their guns to others to shoot for a reasonable price (others don't offer their guns to others at all, it is up to each individual gun owner and lane renter).
I know that progun has their own "rental packages" of different guns. I don't know the details about this because I'm not even sure anyone has actually requested this from progun in combination with the defcon shoot. The only complication I could imagine is which "lane" is used to shoot their rental guns in. Maybe progun would use a different range (which may be the best solution), or worst case we could probably let them use the staff lane if it is just for 5-10 min or so. I'd recommend you call progun if you're interested in something like this, and ask them if a different range can be used for their rental guns (not the ranges used for the defcon shoot).Comment

Thanks both - appreciated. If the standard defcon way is to borrow other people's firearms (and compensate for ammo spent) rather than rentals from Pro Gun, then happy to roll with that (recognising that some people will be willing to share, others not, and that's cool).Comment

Ok, interesting. Are you just expected to approach other people and ask them? Or is there something formally set up where you can rent/purchase from other attendees? I have my own lane, if that matters. If you plan on coming to the defcon shoot without firearms you almost certainly will be able to shoot other people's firearms (assuming you're willing to wait and have cash to compensate them for ammo, etc). There are white boards that each lane renter can use to list their guns and prices they are offering others to shoot. Or they can put "not renting, private lane" etc. But generally yes people mingle around to see what others are shooting and ask if they are renting their guns if nothing is listed on the white board.
