Call for Speakers open in Jan or Feb 2024?

Could someone kindly provide information on when the Call for Speakers will open for submissions in 2024 and when it is scheduled to close?

Additionally, I am curious about the review process for presentation submissions. Will the review panel be evaluating and approving submissions prior to the CFP closing, or is the process scheduled to take place after the CFP deadline has passed?

    Thank you in advance.

Last DEF CON (DEF CON 31, from 2023) the announcement for Call For Paper (speakers looking to present submit papers for their talk in the call for papers) was Feb 3, 2023 (announcement: https://defcon.org/html/defcon-31) and closed May 1, 2023 (page: https://defcon.org/html/defcon-31/dc-31-cfp.html)

The *trend* for when to submit things has been to plan even earlier than the previous year. (Past trends do not indicate future results.)

I do not plan any of the the "call for $thing" at DEF CON, and it is unlikely for anyone to provide you a firm answer "Call for papers will open on $SpecificDate" until it is announced -- there is too much that can interfere with plans to set a firm date only to have people be less than happy when it is not met.

    Disappointment is bad.

Based only on experience and NOT any insider information, a January open date for "Call for Papers" seems *reasonable* and a close date early in May or maybe some time in April also seems reasonable.

I can say that the people that plan for these announcement dates have been busy working on dependencies that must be completed before date for each "Call for $thing" can be announced, but that should be obvious, as that is what happens every year in the lead-up to announcements.

Maybe someone from the CFP review board can answer this. I have been to too many DEF CON. I have memories of early announcements of a tiny percent of talks before CFP closed, but that may have been avoided due to problems. I do not know the present process.

For DEF CON 31, forum announcements show all forum-posted announcements for approved main-stage talks appeared on forums *after* the deadline for CFP closed. This suggests the recent past has talks only getting approved after final deadline in CFP.
