Sometimes policy does have teeth. Yesterday the State Department announced that it would allow for visa restrictions to be imposed upon individuals "involved in the misuse of commercial spyware." According to a press release, this new policy is just the most recent step in the United States’ comprehensive approach to countering the misuse of commercial spyware.
