    Defcon.run

    Event

    Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 05:00 to 08:00, with random pop up meetings throughout the day in the con space. | offsite

    Defcon.run is an evolution of the now long running DEF CON 4x5K running event. Due to stupendous growth, we’ve been forced to change up the format. This year's activity will look to match up folks for fun runs, and rucks (!), in small distributed groups around Las Vegas. It’s the same old event but at a distributed scale!

    Show up in the morning, go for a run with folks, have a good time!

    We’ll have a full set of routes for people to choose from from simple 5Ks to more ambitious distances. Full Information at https://defcon.run

        The page says to ask on discord or signal... I'm too old for this stuff ;) If someone's got an code for me please PN, or post the relevant details to run tomorrow morning here? Did try to read through the FAQ, but not even sure if and where there's a central starting point for tomorrow? 6AM?

          I do not run this event; I was only provided with contents about this event.
          Their website would be the next best bet:
          https://app.defcon.run/

          From their website, it looks like they have accounts on "X" (formerly twitter) , Mastodon, and Signal

          It also looks like they ask people to visit:
          https://app.defcon.run/auth/signin

          They also have a FAQ:
          https://app.defcon.run/faq

          The FAQ seems to provide 2 methods to reach them for questions:
          * email
          * Signal

          Is you have no signal and can't reach their discord, then the next best bet would be email.

          HTH,
          Good luck!

            Thanks, I missed the email part, will try that. My hope was someone already registered is reading here and can provide at least the relevant infos for tomorrow. Will try to register on signal once landed in Vegas...

            I currently assume "The Spot" in their mastodon post does not reference some secret meeting point known to all defcon runners as I assumed first, but actually "The Spot" at Maryland / Desert Inn intersection. Anyone going there from Sahara by car? Or is driving to a run even for US standards a little strange? :) But running 2.2 miles to start a 5K is also. But who cares. Probably will just try that and see what happens.

            Greetings,

            Ray

              Hey y’all, it’s hacktheplanet (all lowercase, don’t let the first character be capital like me)

              OK, for everybody still checking here... Meetup is NOT at "The Spot" but at the North Enterance of the LV CC. 6AM. See you in two hours...
