Well 16 years IS a milestone if you are NOT a regular GOON or DT ! lol
Originally, I was not going to attend DC32 (15 years of attendance, I am good with).
Last year during DC31 at Harrahs, while chatting and challenging a group of ppl in a lounge setting, I was asked to leave the Casino/Hotel by Hotel Security. They thought I was someone off the street soliciting and handing out fliers or who knows what. By way of handing out "things", it was challenge material all related to IT Security/Hacking and Geek Trivia. ALL of the people I was talking to stood up for me and told Security that "you are way off base".
After showing Harrahs Security what I was doing, they reluctantly left the area.
The "things" I was handing out were various Challenge Coins, Stickers, etc. I posted earlier before DC31, that if you see me (look for the hat) ask me to challenge you. If you get the question(s) right, you win something (if I haven't run out of things on me that day that is ;).
Turns out the ppl I was chatting with were all related to a DC Foundation or a Staple at DC. (boy was I shocked....not mentioning anyone nor anything). You know who you are. Thank you again! We had a blast of a time talking about the umbrella of CySec and tons of other things. Especially after Hotel Security walked off.
So it's not so much DC, it was the Hotel Security that put a dark cloud over things for me for this year. After 15 years of attendance, it was time to sit back. So I was planning on not attending this years DC32.
Recently, while chatting at Lunch with a good friend ( not divulging who...), he was sorry I was not going to DC at all. After food and many refills of caffeinated beverages (and bouncing off the walls), I was given an offer I could not refuse. So, I will be at DC32 this year. Thank you (you know who you are) and thanks to all who pushed the dark cloud away.
If you see the hat, stop me and ask me to challenge you. The challenge is NOT always related to Hacking. It will be general knowledge of everything under the Umbrella of Cyber Security or geek trivia. You see, I've been in this game even before "shall we play a game" became known.
Warning: there are only 2 people in all of who attend that wear this style of hat. I'm the ONLY one with feathers in my chapeau and a pin that says "don't follow me, I'm lost too" ! The other person is a great individual !
This year should be a blast. I look forward to running into old friends and making new ones. Moreso, challenging you in whatever strikes my fancy when it comes to Hacking,IT, Security... (oh dear lord, the list is long.....) and movies !
