    Thursday 9am Workshops...is a Badge Required ?

With registration opening at 8am on Thursday and the first workshops starting at 9am on the same day, is a defcon Badge needed to get into those early AM workshops? I have seen a post stating they are required, but nothing official.

The workshops are being held at a different site/location and of course linecon is completely unpredictable as to how long it will take after the 8am opening to actually secure a badge.

Historically, sales of badges (cash) and redemption of code for badges if code was purchased online from shop.defcon.org starts before 8am.

    From this: https://info.defcon.org/event/?id=54478

"Linecon is your optional opportunity to stand (or sit) in line for human registration to open. Doors will open for linecon on Wednesday at approximately 17:00. When human registration opens on Thursday at approximately 08:00, they start working the linecon queue, and the line will start moving quickly. (Please understand that we will begin processing the line on Thursday morning as soon as the cashiers and materials are in place; we will strive for Thursday 08:00, but actual start may be slightly earlier or later.)"

When we were at a hotel/casino or a convention space owned by a hotel/casino, badge sales would often start before the posted time, often 1 or more hours earlier than 8am. How much earlier depended on many things often out of our control..

This is a our first year at the Las Vegas Convention Center, so there may be a lower-limit to how much earlier than 8am this line will start moving.

Historically, you needed a DEF CON badge and evidence you successfully acquired a seat for a workshop before you are allowed into workshop spaces.

    Best advice:
Watch for announcements on the forums, on the main site https://defcon.org/ , on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Defcon/, and maybe mastodon https://defcon.social/deck/@DEFCON or twitter/X https://x.com/defcon for any change to policies on attending early morning workshops, and for updates on when the line to get a DEF CON badge will open. You could also periodically refresh content on https://info.defcon.org/ to see if there are updates on when the line for getting a badge opens for service.

You can also try posting on forums with an "@" with forum username Sinderz https://forum.defcon.org/member/28932-sinderznashes to see if you can get answers about workshop exceptions from a person that is working workshop space.

I do not control anything at DEF CON, and this includes workshops. I only comment on the past and what has happened.
