HDA DEFCON 32 AFTER ACTION REPORT
THE GOOD :
- More people helped than ever before!
- Niomi Brockwell said HDA was the best group she has ever spoken with!
- The synth Jam was amazing! More Theremin!
- Chillout was used by many people who all commented how thankful they were for a semi-quiet, cool, dimply lit space to chill out
- More service dogs than ever!
THE BAD :
- Fake service dogs bothering legit service dogs and people. Addressed by the SOC.
- The Rio shuttle abandoned people with scooters who needed transportation. One attendee needed assistance and the SOC stepped in and they received the transportation they needed.
- Las Vegas RTC refusing to pick up a disabled passenger. Report filed but RTC denied the incidents. Fair warning for next year - beware RTC buses.
- Locked handicapped access doors. Addressed by the SOC.
THE UGLY
- Thursday : This is set-up day, and was listed as if HDA was open for business. We will address this and be better prepared next year.
- Attendees showed up expecting us to be set up and ready. We weren't.
- Attendee demanding water. Water service is no longer done as it was previous years with coolers in our and other areas. Water fountains with bottle refill stations are located throughout the LVCC. Attendee was directed to them.
- Attendees demanded sugar as they were diabetic and required it. HDA/DEFCON can not profive food and drink as per the LVCC rules. They were directed to the food court, vending , and the helpline. We do not / can not provide medical attention , or medically required materials outside of first aid.
WE NEED YOUR INPUT!
Please use this forum to bring things to our attention - for next year and beyond!
