A friend of my step-uncle is going to pay my step-uncle and I to try to hack into his system. Hes running a webserver and wants to see if it is secure. We have his full consent to do whatever we want. Right now he is running a firewall on a BSD box, basically he wants us to get in and change the webpage and then tell him the weaknesses. I was mainly curious about the legality of all of this? I wanted to check to make sure I didnt get myself into anything before I do this. If this is legal anyone got any tips on how I should approach this?

    Yes:
Get everything in writing and make sure the guy has authority to ask someone to do that!
