  • Hotel Update

As of June 8, there are 15 Monarch rooms left and the hotel will then be sold out.

We have posted 2 overflow hotels that are offering group discounts for DEF CON delegates- the Howard Johnson's Airport and the Embassy Suites.

You could just give then a different badge like one made out of paper which would let then get onto the hotel property but not into any of the talks. Another option is you could give them a defcon pass or a huge discount on one.

encrypt: I think the point is that those people don't want to be there, whether they know it or not.... so why not open the rooms for more con attendees upfront...
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

you could always have the AP call the reserves back and say "will you be staying for DEFCON".. when they say DEF-WHAT? have the AP staff reply with "Unfortunately we are relocating you..."

I reserved before Defcon was announced and got a better rate, and I will not be relocated! Unless you wanna give me the Hard Rock honeymoon suite, that's about all I'll settle for.

Do you really think normal people(this do not include defcon attendee) reserve 6 month in advance to go to Alexis park ?

I think I should call the AP and try to make a reservation just so I know what all of you are going through..... heh
If I had a nickle for every time someone offered me ten cents to keep my two cents to myself... I would be a rich man.

                    Room count UPDATE

There are about 25 rooms available- the hotel released an additional 10 rooms that have been cancelled.

Regarding the non-con persons possibly attending, the hotel policy that was in effect last year will be in effect this year. We anticipate zero problems. Same as last year.

One incident that comes to mind was at DC7 (I think) and the wedding party that had booked thier reception at the AP for the friday night.

It was amusing to see the bride & groom and guests looking around and wondering what the hell was going on.

On the otherhand it was sad because we (unintentionally) screwed up their reception (they left quickly) and some con-goers were being less than nice; 'Congratulations, Can I fuck the bride?'

At least now with occupying the whole hotel, we are only a threat to our own sanity (not that there's much)
