At least my orinoco a/b card has an external antenna connector.

Have you ever tried to slap one on? The jack might just be for testing, but who knows, it may work.
    Where's the dedication?

Most likely it is the newer proprietary connector that Proxim has gone to on their units such as the AP-600s. Currently there are no connectors available for it. Our cable vendor is manufacturing a connector but does not expect to have any available for at least another month.
I will try it as soon as I can get a pigtail.

What type of antenna would one use too monitor both a & b, thinking on the different bandwidths 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz.
