can anyone tell me if you can send attachments to other defcon users using the private messaging or do you have do leave them on a forum thread as my email acount is not working

You can transfer files by contacting the other person via PM. During this intimate time of dwelling, you may insideously exchange information; quite possibly http/ftp/dcc/smtp/alternate addressing, at which point the other person may pursue such a route to obtain the binary or ascii in question.

In other words.. the forums are not a p2p service and in no way act as a means for file brokering.
