  • Who knew DEFCON was a tourist attraction, for the Japanese!

    I work in Tokyo now, but I found this interesting!

    http://www.etour.ne.jp/defcon/

    Etour is a tour agency and they created a "hacker travel package", the Defcon package.

    :)

    use world.altavista.com if you want to translate it, but basically its just an overview of what defcon is etc, they have room for 20 people. It costs 3,388 bucks (almost)
    Livin it up in the digital metropolis known as Tokyo.

    Black Hat Bliefings

    <sarcasm and humor>
    The original page also mentions the Black Hat Bliefings
    I wonder if this is competing with the Black Hat Briefings.
    If so then Hopefully Dark Tangent Sues them Like he is Rubicon. That name is awfully close to Blackhat briefings
    </sarcasm and humor>

    And a word of caution:
    Beware the crazy Japanese Schoolgirls at the black and white ball. Things could get very out of control. =)

                I wonder how many people will head over from their tour package. Entertaining, soon each and every travel agency will have a package like this ;)

                  DT runs Black Hat the week before DefCon every year at like $1000+ a head!

                  And you thought $75 a pop was expensive. We get the same speakers for a fraction of the cost.

                    I've seen much worse than that before...

                    Like in Argent Soma, where the character is trying to hit an opponent with a missile, but the "Lock On" indicator instead read "Rock On"

                    Rock on, you crazy Japanese...

                      I'm pretty certain the Blackhat Speeches are a lot more technical and in depth than the Defcon ones.

                      For one, the speakers are generally sober.
