There is a big difference between geeks and dorks. Everyone I've seen who tried to talk about tech on TechTV has fallen into the latter category. The remainder are girls just there to keep the scenery in balance. How can you guys watch that shit?

You obviously didn't get to hang with Patrick Norton at the con. He's been coming out the last three years, and he's a great guy.

TechTV gives the con a lot of support, free plugs, as well as a lot of the community, such as bawug/freenetworks.org.

On the shows, that can't go super geek and talk about things that would interest propellorheads, because all that would do is confuse 99% of the audience. They do a good job of primering the unwashed masses of n00bs so they are a little less dumb.

The other thing is that yes, they have some damn cute gals on the shows, and all of them know what they're talking about. That's most of the appeal anyway. We all know a hot chick when we see one, but if we also know that se would geek out at the intellectual level if you talked to her, then that's a major bonus.

The gal on X-Play is dead sexy because she likes video games. Also: boobs.

Besides, think about what they go through, cold you possibly answer the same stupid inane n00bs questions like “What’s the difference between NTFS and FAT32” on a daily basis and not go on a killing spree?

Yeah, Patrick is one of the few clueful people on that channel, watching him and Leo, I can almost sense their exasperation with a lot of the callers they talk to.

Chris Pirillo on the other hand is a retarded monkey boy on the air and Kevin Rose needs to stop making fake "hacker" tv shows that show how committing simple fraud is cool because it's "Social Engineering."
