I had a great time too!

This was my first Defcon. Two former co-worker friends invited me and flew me out. It was great. I met really neat people and am now suffering from a serious lack of sleep. :)

Someone asked me on my second evening there (Friday) how many people had hit on me... I honestly have to say, "Not enough!". Maybe 3-6 thought they did. However, only 3 are what I'd actually consider hitting on. Alas, I haved been invited back for next year. Maybe more people will talk to me then. ;)

I'd like to meet more people in the community.

Dataworm, I will have the maps and files up in the next day or so. I am surprised I am even on these forums this soon after con, let alone taking the time to update websites etc.

I know you guys wanted to win, but the fact is, you didn't. It had nothing to do with another team interpreting the rules different from you.

As far as the warbabel issue goes, that isn't what I was referring to. I meant teams that DID successfully convert but gave us wi-scan without extensions. Or folks that gave us ns1's instead of exporting. Netstumbler was unaffected by the warbabel issue....it's users apparently weren't :D

I have never agreed with where the guards stay. My family was at the con with me and got harassed just trying to go get a beer because they had to go the long way around the pool. Ans the goon at the gate there acted like we were serious party crashers, when all they wanted was to buy booze.

On another note, my wife had her bathing suit top stolen at the pool, and SHE got in trouble for "flashing" when the true crime was a thief in the mix.

I saw a lot of knee jerk reactions, Closing the pools was one of them. I'd opt to pay $100 for the con if it bought us either more security, or some intelligent security.

Kudos to those who did good, I bet it felt like you were holding back the ocean with a spoon!

cool, but still could you just post the score(You should have those alwready)... Btw I know you all did aloth of great work to get all this to work, especially converge who did't sleep at all to get all the data compiled...

You know i was' that bing about winning(some of my team member was aloth more wanting to win than me), the whole thing went around not getting beaten cleanly, now your telling me that they did even beated us without the LA. Fine if they really did, this is a new info that was't available before. If i got beated honestly, I will be happy for them. Until then I will be waiting for the data, I am really curious about how they beated us...

Yeah, vegas is "sin city", but the main reason that nudity isnt allowed in public areas of the AP is a permit issue. They sell alcohol and do not have the proper permits to have nudity and beer on premisis.

Playing goon this year was a blast. Worked with a lot of good people, and most people were cool when asked to help us not get shut down. Hopefully next year, some of those issues will be resolved with more notice.

Uh, don't criticize the shortcomings of defcon (like the ratio of badges to seats) or else all the groupies will jump you, then end the thread!

I was one of the goons that responded to the "incident". She didnt get in trouble.....we were trying to assist her in getting clothed without being groped/harassed by attendees, and before AP security got invoved causing all sorts of headaches for the "flasher" and con in general. If it were up to most of us, we would leave well enough alone. I also know the goon in question that was suspected of stealing the top, and I can say with near absolute certainty that he had better things to do than steal a top. Things disappear all the time around the pool. I wouldnt be surprised if some 15 yr old asshat got a souvineer to jack off to friday nights while playing quake.

And for the asshat that wants to continue his con trashing on another thread....it was closed for a reason, leave it at that.

                          Tele Monster... and the goonies...

                          Check it out, a quickie

(loosly to the tune of Cyndi Lauper's Goonies are good enough,
which unfortunately doesn't really mention goonies much)

                          Here we are,
Standing out in the heat, dressed in black
Oversold, not enough seats for you
Oh it's nothing, go stand in the bar
                          Unmet expectations
                          Repeated tribulations
                          They repeat year after year

                          CHORUS:
                          Good enough
                          For you is
                          Good enough
                          For us
                          Is good enough
                          with all the cash
                          yea yea yea yea yea

                          Now they'll say
It's all the fire marshals fault
                          Not enough seats,
Winn Schwartau has a high energy
                          radio frequency
                          electromagnetic
                          pyrotecnic
                          firework yeah
That will endanger everyone in the tent

                          REPEAT CHORUS 2x

BUT THE GOONIES WILL SAVE US (With their)

I already know all of this stuff

                            My first defcon

As I have said in another post in another thread, I thoroughly enjoyed this, my first of many, defcons! The speakers I managed to see were excellent and gathering with a group of my intellectual peers was refreshing indeed. Even though I work in the IT department of a large company there are relatively few of my co-workers who "get it" so to speak. I did not get to meet and interact with near as many folks as I would have liked to and I am looking forward to increasing my circle of friends as the years go on.

Unfortunately, this year, I was unable to attend many of the after hours gatherings, something else I hope to change in years to come. This year combined the con and a family vacation in the same week so I split my time between the two, enjoying both sets of activities (in case my wife finds her way here to read this :) ).

I would like to personally thank all who gave of their time to organize and run this conference and I truly wish I had attended in years past.
The Matrix is real... but I'm only visiting.

Its easy to be hit on at con. But if you ask me, your best bet is to see something you like and go after it. Wearing a baby-tee with "/me likes to fuck" would be one way to ensure every penis within 100 yards comes calling.
