    DC Groups

What are the "DC Groups" on the homepage? They obviously appear to be relative to location, but what is the purpose?

Let's see. Defcon. Local. Groups. Could it be local groups of people into the defcon thing?

At IrvineUnderground we do speeches and stuff every month, it's like 11 mini-defcon's :)

I guess I should clarify... I kinda got the part that they were groups into the "Defcon thing". More to the point, is it some sort of organized group or what? I would assume it would have to have a sort of grander purpose as Defcon is a lot of different things to a lot of different people. A "defcon thing" could mean it is people that want to get together and give speeches, it could be a group of people that want to get together and drink and party, it could be people that want to get naked at the pool... and more then likely a bit of everything.

Just wondering if it is a organized... or going to be organized thing ... with like "open" type meetings like a user group, or like a contact point for "if you attend Defcon and in this area, drop this person an email".

defcon is not about drinking and partying - if you want to do that than just go to vegas and do it...

DC groups are just a contact point. they're not controlled by DC at all, they're more like spinoffs.

It would be great for there to be a central location where the DCG FAQ could be read :) Although I am sure it will come soon enough.

Would have been nice. I'll talk to some of the other group organizers, see what should be included.

Of course not. It's about meeting people, drinking with them and engaging in activities that people might mistake as partying, yet is really an ancient Babylonian ritual involving duct tape, sharpies, alchohol and mass migration between rooms hosting such events.:D
