Thank god it did not happen during the con, or we would be getting the blame..

It's no wonder it happened. After a gathering of many h4x0rs in Las Vegas, they had the time to plan their dubious plot again the national power grid.

The White House was not ruling out a someone hacking in... Defcon Happens, and then this happens. Hmmm.. Let's blame defcon!

the lamest thing i heard were the repeated references of 9-11... people are the stupidest dumbfucks...
its easier to say that when you werent there, during the blackout it was just like 9-11, if only because no-one knew what was happening and everyone was trying to get out of the city. this time of course once everyone knew that it was all canada's fault they relaxed. any references to how alike the two were in any other referece is some newsreporter trying to get a raise by talking out of his ass.
        shit happens, get over it.

I was out of power for almost 24 hours. Toronto is still conserving it's power, the Mayor has asked everyone to be carefull, businesses are turning off neon lights. It was pretty freaky. Everything is running well, our TTC is back up and running. Even though we still have the threat of rolling black outs. Last I heard about the origin of the blackout, was Ohio.

... nothing will ever be like or just like 9-11... ever.
they can easily explain to the sheep of the world that it was just like a blackout... mass-confusion... no electricity... nothing to depend on... etc...

but that was the problem! "they" couldnt explain anything to anyone on the eastcoast.
since 9-11 people have been waiting and hoping nothing like that ever happens again but people always assume the worst. ever since the world trade centers, "the worst" has been redefined.

during 9-11 i was in school in greenich village and could hear/feel the explosion. it was between classes and most of the people i was with ran to the window to see a line of people standing in the midle of the street staring upwards towards downtown.
no-one was scared because everyone believed that it had been an accident. this sort of thing had happend before and although it was very sad there was no imminent danger to themselves. they were of course shocked and very worried about the passengers but not expecting more to come.

the reception on most of the radios and televisions was knocked out and cell phones didnt work. no-one knew what what was going on for at least a little while. then people found radio stations on the air, etc. and people began to get frightened. the subways were shutdown, most traffic was stopped. tunnels in and out of the city were shutdown. there were coordinated bus lines and ferry to get out of the city.

this started the same way, with something happening that would not normally be considered an act of terror but while in the case of sept 11 more followed like the planes crashing at the pentagon, pennsylvania and the second one to hit the towers, in this case nothing followed but the return of power. thats the reason they kept shouting about it NOT BEING A TERRORIST ATTACK all over the radio.

although the individuals may be smart enough to figure out that this wasnt a terrorist attack, when people get in groups like the huge teeming crowds that they became during the power outage "people" become suprisingly stupid.

personally it never occured to me that it might be a terrorist attack, i was just relaxing on my couch watching a movie when the power died. i sure wasnt gonna leave my house and waste the last of the AC so i curled up and took a nap, it only became a problem when i woke up at 8 and it was nearly pitch black.

                  BINGO!
The amazing thing is, we have known that our power grid is a mesh of shit for the last 20 years, and that it would not meet the needs being placed on it.
This is nothing but a forshadowing of what is to come if we don't get off our asses and fix it. The problem is: it is not profitable to fix it; the electrical companies would go bankrupt. As usual, the electric companies can sit on their asses drawing the profits, and when things go to shit the taxpayers will have to take it in the ass when the government has to shell out some major "corporate welfare" to bail them out.
