I dont think I can encourage people enough to attend Toorcon. I've gone since the first one and they just get better. In a lot of ways its like re-living what I got to experience at Defcon, but since I'm not involved, I get to experience it as an attendee. I think this year is going to be 'the' year for them. Lots of good speakers, lots more organization, and lots of people comming. The SD2600/Dachboden guys have their shit together as well, so I'm sure this year will be as quality as it can be. I find out tomorrow if I have the green light to attend, and if I get it I will definately be there. However, don't go there expecting a Defcon Jr., Toorcon is very different. There are still parties and lots to do (hanging out in the gaslamp district in the evenings is a blast), but the event itself is pretty simple and straight forward: they provide speakers talking about security and hacking related issues. I for one, hope it dosent turn into a PartyCon, or at least we get a few more years out of it before it does. If you are comming just for the social aspect, you might want to stay at home as you'll find when speeches are in progress, the only people milling around the halls are the organizers. Overall, definately worth the money and a great place to learn some new skills.
I return whatever i wish . Its called FREEDOWM OF RANDOMNESS IN A HECK . CLUSTERED DEFEATED CORn FORUM . Welcome to me
Siviak: maybe more than one :D (but my roommate from Defcon will covering beverages since I'm covering the room.) Speaking of which, we're looking for a $lackey... know any good candidates?
Noid: I agree entirely. I haven't made it to the Toorcon as of yet, but have only heard the highest regards concerning it's layout and speaker schedules. The tracks assembled for this year are quite impressive.

On a side note, the Hyatt in the Gaslamp Quarter is an amazing place. It is right on the SD bay across from Coronado. If any one has never been to "America's Finest City" , Toorcon is an excellent reason. After the con, there is plenty to do and most likely in walking distance.
On an offbeat note, the buildings that make up downtown, also make up a toolbox. The Hyatt towers are the flathead screwdrivers, if you go to the bar on the 42nd floor, you can see the allen wrenches and the phillips screwdriver... fyi *shrug*

That won't last long... Soon after arriving you'll have a hard time remembering your name from the large amounts of alc... um, nm. Then you'll be all friendly with everyone you meet [AS USUAL]. After all, that's how we met, right?
